I'm a Building Physics Data Scientist, currently working under a Knowledge Transfer Partnership scheme. This means that I get to work with an academic partner to incorporate my research and available know-how from academia into our work, particularly in the domain of building physics engineering. With this, we ensure that our energy demand models are in line with the latest research and that we keep delighting our customers with a wide range of datasets using up to date methods and technologies. I also bring value by facilitating knowledge transfer to mature our capabilities within the team, and maintain our innovation efforts up to date with the latest developments.
I was motivated to join a passionate and impactful team whose work was in line with my own aspirations and goals. Coming from an energy engineering background, I was interested in growing my capabilities in data science and applying them into looking for impactful solutions to energy related problems, such as energy accessibility and climate change. Today, I am happy to be part of a team of brilliant individuals who are working together to deliver technology-based solutions that will aid in planning an efficient, reliable, and sustainable energy future.
Improving and automating our dataset generation process has definitely been an interesting and rewarding challenge. I have had to apply my analytical and programming skills to understand and improve our existing urban scale energy demand models, but I have also had to build new skills in a short time to make sure that we are able to deliver them at scale and in a timely manner. Being at the heart of a thriving start-up, I have come to understand the importance of such a process to go from technical breakthrough to productisation and commercialisation. Today, we are able to generate our heat, building, energy and transport datasets more swiftly, making our business model more scalable and helping our customers have accurate data available in shorter times.
What I find most rewarding is working in an environment that challenges me to grow and to build new skills and capabilities every day. I feel immersed in a culture that encourages learning and taking a hands-on approach on pretty much every problem that comes our way, while leaving flexibility for individuals to also develop other aspects of their lives. This reflects in our capability to deliver innovative solutions quickly and efficiently, making us a key player in the energy landscape.
I am driven by curiosity and always motivated by learning new things, from new frameworks and programming languages for data-based applications, to breakthroughs on energy generation and use, or ways to solve problems that I find interesting and intellectually compelling. I believe this also reflects on my hobbies, which include reading, dancing, and playing the guitar, as I am always trying to challenge myself and constantly grow my skills.
