What is your role at Advanced Infrastructure?‍

As Head of Data at Advanced Infrastructure, I lead technical discussions and architecture decisions that shape our data solutions. I oversee technical specifications, assign work based on team expertise, and actively participate in development tasks. My role involves mentoring team members, conducting code reviews, and unblocking technical challenges. With expertise in data engineering, I ensure our solutions meet both technical excellence and business objectives.

What led you to join the team at Advanced Infrastructure?

I started my career as a GIS developer at a UK software company, which gave me a great opportunity to apply what I'd learnt at university into practice. While I briefly explored other industries, I returned to GIS after realising it's my true passion. Advanced Infrastructure's focus on using data to solve environmental challenges aligned perfectly with my technical background and personal interest in sustainability. The opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology while contributing to net-zero solutions was compelling.

Which project have you enjoyed working on the most at Advanced Infrastructure?

Working on improving our scenario modeller within the LAEP+ platform has been my most rewarding project. As a team, we developed the core logic and optimisation algorithms, while managing the model's input/output architecture. The technical challenge of enhancing model performance pushed me to innovate with data preprocessing techniques and strategic model selection. The collaborative spirit of our ambitious team made this challenging project particularly enjoyable.

What do you find most rewarding about your role?

What I find most rewarding is orchestrating complex team projects where we leverage each member's expertise. Breaking down challenging features into specialised components, then seeing them seamlessly come together through collaborative effort is incredibly satisfying. Watching our collective technical skills translate into impactful solutions that help organisations achieve their sustainability goals makes the role especially meaningful.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I have a diverse range of interests. I'm passionate about astrophotography, which combines my love for astronomy and photography. I also enjoy playing the piano. As for reading, I have a particular interest in global news covering a wide range of topics, as well as history books. While it might sound a bit pretentious, I find that staying informed about world events and understanding historical contexts helps broaden my perspective.
